작품 제목: 오대주 (1)Title: Continents Ⅱ 오대주 김진수 http://www.busanbiennale.org/sub01/05_fix.php?no=704amp;cat_no=703amp;seq=101310amp;type=2amp;year=2004amp;type2=3amp;type3=amp;page=1오대주지구에 있는 아시아를 비롯한 아프리카 아메리카 오스트레일리아 유럽 등 다섯 개 대륙의 모양을 단순화하여 철판에 옮긴 후 그것을 재구성한 작품이다. 대륙은 인류와 자연생물이 사는 곳으로, 이 작품은 작가의 인류 평화와 공영, 그리고 자연 생태에 대한 염원을 담고 있다. 세계지도를 본 사람이라면 누구나 그것이 무엇인지 알 수 있는 형태로서 일반인들도 쉽게 그 의미를 이해할 수 있는 작품이다. 또한 이 작품은 작품과 거리를 두고 멀리서 감상만 하는 작품이 아닌, 관객들이 작품에 앉아 쉴 수도 있고 만질 수도 있는 관객과 함께 하는 작품이다. 이러한 특징은 2004 비엔날레의 주제인 ‘건너가기’와 관련해, 작품과 관객과의 ‘틈’을 허물고 서로 건너가고 건너오는 상호소통을 지향하고 있다. Anyone who has seen the world map can easily grasp the meaning of the work. Moreover, this work does not make viewers appreciate it from a distance but rather invites viewers to relax sitting on it and touch.
